Caren Freyer DeSouza

Caren joined PSEG as Regional Public Affairs Manager covering Hudson and South East Bergen Counties in 2012 after she retired with distinguished service of 20 plus years as Vice President-Director Governmental Relations Parsons Brinckerhoff New Jersey. She serves on the Board of Overseers-NJIT and liaison to Board of Trustees on University Master Plan. Caren was appointed Commissioner-Vice Chairwoman of the Essex County Utilities Authority where as a volunteer she presides at the monthly Board meetings. Caren was recently appointed to serve as a member of the Hudson County Workforce Investment Board. She serves on the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce Legislative Committee, Board of Directors-Bayonne Chamber of Commerce and retired as Chairwoman of the Newark Workforce Investment Board Executive Committee where Caren Chaired the Youth Investment Council during all phases of School Construction at Science Park and Central High School's with the NJ Schools's Facilities Authority on behalf of Mayor Booker. Caren Graduated Cum Laude, Kean University with Joint Degrees-Political Science & Public Administration, 1979. She also served her community as a Member of the Women's Leadership Forum during President Clinton's Campaign and was appointed as NJ's First Women Treasurer Campaign '93 for the New Jersey Democratic State Committee. She resides in Roseland NJ and her proudest accomplishment is as Mother of Three College Students--Rebeccah, a senior at Montclair State University who will graduate in June, 2015, and her twins Joseph and Julianna Bibbo, both sophomores who attend Johnson and Wales University and Montclair State University, respectively.
